How to apply for an award
Eligibility
for funding
The Scientific Advisory Board members are in regular contact concerning their decisions and meet twice a year. In reviewing applications for research funding they consider applications which:
Are made by healthcare professionals based in the UK |
Preference will be given to healthcare professionals in less senior positions |
Fulfil the objectives of the Ipsen Fund |
Are accompanied by completed application forms |
Include agreement to meet evaluation criteria |
Previous recipients or applicants may apply again |
Making
an application
Clinical Research Fellowships |
The application for this award should be made on the appropriate form and be submitted before the specified deadline. It must outline the project in terms of innovation, clinical detail, and the neurological or endocrine component of the disease area.
Sufficient detail should be given to allow the Scientific Advisory Board to judge its scientific merit and decide whether it meets the Ipsen Fund's criteria.
Short-listed applicants will be asked to attend an interview. |

Support for Medical Lectures/Seminars/Symposia |
Applications in this category should be made by the person organising the event, or their representative. An application for this award should be made on the appropriate form and be submitted before the specified deadline. Retrospective applications will not be considered.
Those applying for support of a medical lecture/seminar/symposium should give details of the nature of
the event and a breakdown of the total costs.
Where the request is for a contribution or part-funding, the applicant should indicate the total costs
and other sources of support.
Each application will be assessed to ensure that it meets the Ipsen Fund's objectives, and put before
the Scientific Advisory Board.
In the event of the application being successful, the Ipsen Fund should be acknowledged at the
lecture/seminar/symposium, and in any associated printed materials, as having provided support through an unrestricted educational grant. |

Training awards |
An application should be made on the appropriate form and be submitted before the specified deadline.
Those applying for support for training should give details of the nature, scope and location of the training and a breakdown of the total costs.
Where the request is for a contribution or part-funding, the applicant should indicate the total costs and other sources of support.
Each application will be assessed to ensure that it meets the Ipsen Fund's objectives, and put before the Scientific Advisory Board.
These awards are not intended to provide travel awards for attendance at medico-scientific meetings alone. Some training element is essential to qualify for this category of award. |
Evaluating
the results
The Ipsen Fund assesses the success of each project that it supports, so that it can direct future funds
more effectively.
When Clinical Research Fellowships are awarded, the Scientific Advisory Board will require six-monthly progress reports. The results must be presented at an Ipsen Fund meeting. Where it is feasible, the final results should also be published.
Where educational awards are given to support a Medical Lecture/Seminar/Symposium, the Ipsen Fund will require evaluation forms to be distributed at the meeting and completed by those attending.
Where training is supported, a short report to the Ipsen fund will be required. This should outline the content of the training and how the new skills or knowledge will be applied in clinical practice.
